Facilitation

Placement Identification and Facilitation is a service provided by Jeanie to Higher Education institutions with health science programs that require regional placements, allowing them to:

  • Cost effectively identify placements opportunities (without extensive overhead cost)
  • Prequalify these to ensure their duty-of-care obligations are observed
  • Deliver a range of opportunities which helps build their international reputation for rural speciality
Jeanie will facilitate formal relationships between Higher Education institutions and private rural practices, specifically:
  1. Agree criteria for selection
  2. Agree terms and conditions of engagements
  3. Identify and prequalify private practices
  4. Facilitate signing of contracts
This will include identifying prequalified placement opportunities in a diverse range of regions against agreed criteria. Jeanie has an exceptional network in the regional and remote community. Providing this service to a number of institutions means that we can develop a diverse group of placement opportunities that best suit the different requirements of each institution. Offering this service nationally allows us to provide placements in different regions to expand the experience base of each cohort. This approach allows for very high quality placement opportunities at a cost-effective rate with no hidden/sunk/overhead costs.

Rural Areas Experience
(Field Trips)

Rural Areas Experiences is a service provided by Jeanie to Higher Education institutions with health science programs that offer regional placements, allowing them to:

  • Provide unique learning experiences for students whilst on placements
  • Deliver additional learning pathways including professional (clinical and non-clinical), social and community topics, which may include formal assessments or tasks
  • Maximise student participation and engagement
This will include design, development, and facilitation of Rural Areas Experiences, specifically:
  1. Agree duration, location and content to complement existing curriculum and strategy
  2. Manage relationships between the institution, participants and rural area stakeholders to enable professional and social engagements
  3. Facilitate the program so students experience the realities of living and working in a rural area and gain confidence to integrate into rural areas on graduation
Jeanie’s Rural Areas Experiences are customised to the needs of the institution and the students. This means Rural Areas Experiences are tailored to suit any education level across a range of health disciplines. Rural Area Experiences can be facilitated hands-on or remotely to complement existing student placements. The immersive Rural Areas Experiences help students understand the rural health sector so they can make informed choices about rural careers. Rural Health Workforce
Integration Programs

The Rural Health Workforce Integration program is a structured mentoring and integration program offered to regional medical/health care private practices and public institutions who employ healthcare workforce, allowing them to:

  • Reduce cost and complexity of in-house onboarding, induction, and mentoring
  • Help new health workers become effective in their roles quicker
  • Help new health workers feel as if they are a contributing part of the community sooner, increasing the likelihood of retention
  • Remain focussed on core business
Each program helps new employees build clinical and non-clinical competencies by providing access to:
  1. Structured monthly meetings
  2. A number of professional engagements with allied practitioners to build up experience and confidence
  3. Social integration engagements (depending on the requirements of the situation)
  4. Structured remote mentoring
  5. Personal coaching on professionalism, management, and other life skills
Jeanie’s Rural Health Workforce Integration programs are customised to the needs of the practice/institution and the employee. We base our programs on personal contact between the mentor and the employee. Workshops

The Get Ready for Rural Workshops is a structured series of workshops offered to Higher Education institutions with health science programs, allowing them to deliver specialist, multi-disciplinary rural health sector content in three streams:

  • The Clinical Reality; Help students understand the realities of the rural health sector (private and public) and concepts of multi-disciplinary health teams
  • Personal/Lifestyle Factors; Explore important topics to increase potential for recruitment and retention
  • Career Opportunities; Share opportunities for rural placements, experiences and career development pathways
Jeanies’ Get Ready for Rural Workshops provide students with the tools, connections and knowledge to make informed decisions about a rural career. This will include;
  1. Online delivery of three sessions, facilitated live via video conferencing
  2. Guest speakers and case-studies to share the realities of working and living in rural areas
  3. Offer pathways to explore and prepare for a rural career while studying
Jeanie’s Get Ready for Rural Workshops are led by experienced facilitators. Our interactive style helps students to explore how a rural career fits in to their life plan. Jeanie's Get Ready for Rural Workshops are offered Nationally across multi-disciplinary health sectors, meaning workshop content is current and relevant to a range of education levels. Jeanies’ excellent network in the regional and remote healthcare sector across Australia means participants in Get Ready for Rural Workshops also have access to a connected community of regional professionals.
